Anti Static Strap
An anti-static strap—also known as an ESD wrist strap—is a wearable device used to safely discharge static electricity from your body to the ground, preventing electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage to sensitive electronic components.
How It Works:
The strap is worn around your wrist and is connected via a grounding cord to a grounded object (like an ESD mat or power outlet ground).
The conductive materials in the strap drain static charge from your body at a safe, controlled rate.
Common Uses:
Electronics assembly & repair
Semiconductor handling
Laboratories and cleanrooms
Manufacturing of circuit boards or microchips
Key Features:
Adjustable wristband (fabric or metal)
Grounding cord with alligator clip or banana plug
Resistor (usually 1MΩ) for safety, limiting current flow
Why Use It?
Even a small static shock (which you might not even feel) can destroy or degrade electronic parts. The anti-static strap is a simple, affordable, and highly effective tool for preventing this kind of damage.
