How to choose the right anti static mats ?

Choosing the right anti-static mat (ESD mat) depends on your work environment, the type of electronics you handle, and how you plan to ground it. Here's a simple guide to help you make the best choice:

1. Know Your Application

Use CaseRecommended Mat Type
Electronics assembly/repairTabletop ESD mats
Standing workstationsFloor ESD mats
Cleanroom or sensitive environmentsCleanroom-grade ESD mats
High-voltage or heavy machinery areasHigh-durability rubber mats

2. Understand Mat Layers

Most ESD mats are either 2-layer or 3-layer:

LayersDescriptionBest for
2-layer (rubber)Durable, chemical/heat resistantIndustrial use
3-layer (vinyl)Top dissipative, middle conductive, bottom non-slipLab/office environments

3. Check Surface Resistance

Look for mats with surface resistance in the range of 10⁶–10⁹ ohms:

  • Dissipative mats: Safely slow discharge to avoid damaging components

  • Avoid conductive-only mats unless you have proper grounding systems

4. Size & Thickness

  • Choose a size that covers your entire work area or walk zone

  • Common sizes: 24"×36", 24"×48", custom sizes available

  • Thickness: 2mm–3mm is standard; thicker mats offer more durability and comfort

5. Grounding

  • Make sure the mat has a grounding snap/button or includes a grounding cord

  • Ground the mat properly to an ESD ground point (not regular electrical ground!)

6. Certification & Compliance

Look for ESD mats compliant with:

  • ANSI/ESD S20.20

  • IEC 61340-5-1

  • RoHS and REACH if applicable

7. Maintenance

Choose a mat that's easy to clean and resistant to wear, chemicals, and heat depending on your working conditions.

Our Anti static mats:

Green Blue Black Grey ESD Rubber Mat Anti Static For Workplace Table / Floor

Descriptions:
* ESD Rubber Mats are made of two layers with the top one as a static dissipative rubber layer, laminated to a black conductive bottom layer.
* Surface resistivity of the top layer is 108 – 10ohms and bottom layer is 10– 106 ohms.
* It offers excellent resistance to oil, grease and solvent.
* Its temperature resistance to 160 degree, could be resistant to hot solder, while ESD vinyl mats are suitable for general
electronics assembly whose temp resistance reach to 70degree around.
* Normal size(roll): 1.0mx*10mx*2mm(T); 1.2mx*10mx*2mm(T).
Features
1, Anti-static, widely used in electronic assembly, cleanroom, semiconductor production lines work table/floor
2, It is available in rolls or ESD work surface mat kits which include a ground snap and common point ground. We can cut mats to special sizes, so please contact us if you have special size requirements.
3, Many colors for options, custom colors accepted. If you have a quantity no less than 300 square meters, just let us know the Pantone color, we will customize for you.
